SC State Women’s Volleyball Makes Quick Work of NC A&T in Final Home Game

Brimmer closed out her home career with 28 assists
Orangeburg, S.C. (Nov. 13)—It took just 59 minutes for the SC State women's volleyball to close out its 2011 regular season as they defeated North Carolina A&T, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-7).  With the victory, the Lady Bulldogs finished the regular season 17-15 overall and 8-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division.  This is also the first time since the 2004 volleyball season that SC State has had a winning record during the regular season.

Shabree Roberson and Desire Waller led the charge for SC State.  Roberson finished the match with 11 kills and a hitting percentage of .667 while Waller finished with eight kills for a hitting percentage of .412. Setter Bria Brimmer put up 28 assists and Melissa Robinson picked up seven digs in the contest.

North Carolina A&T was led by Andrea Evans with seven kills.  Chelsea Fox had 11 assists as the Lady Aggies closed out its season with a 2-27 overall record and 2-8 in the MEAC.

The Lady Bulldogs will look to win its second straight MEAC title when they travel to Baltimore, Md. to participate in the 2011 MEAC postseason tournament.  The tournament will commence this Friday, Nov. 18 and will conclude on Sunday, Nov. 20 with the championship game being aired live via video streaming on www.meacsports.com.  SC State, who will be the number two seed in the Southern Division, will open the tournament against Hampton who is the number three seed in the Northern Division on Friday at 10 a.m.
