SC State Women’s Volleyball Close Out Regular Season at Home

Lady Bulldogs Host North Carolina Central and NC A&T

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team will look to remain tied for first place in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) southern division as they close out their 2011 regular season at home this weekend.  The Lady Bulldogs will host on North Carolina Central on Friday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. and North Carolina A&T on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. to close out the regular season and MEAC play.  Both contests will be played at Dukes Gymnasium and are free and open to the public.


SC State, who has a winning record for the first time since the 2004-05 season when they were 18-14, will enter the weekend at 16-14 overall and 7-1 in the MEAC. Desire Waller and Shabree Roberson continue to be the catalysts for the Lady Bulldogs.  Waller currently has 385 kills (3.74 k/s), 53 aces, 247 digs (2.4 k/s) and 73 total blocks (.71 b/s).  Roberson has 271 kills (2.63 p/s), 25 aces with 104 total blocks (1.01).  Running the offense for SC State is senior Bria Brimmer who has put up 976 set assists on the season.

North Carolina Central is led by Dayanna Arrufat and Emanuelle Santos with 256 kills (2.69 p/s) and 179 digs (2.56 p/s), respectively.  The Lady Eagles enter the contest with a 3-25 overall record and 3-5 in the MEAC.

The Lady Bulldogs will culminate their season at the 2011 MEAC postseason tournament Friday-Sunday, Nov. 18-20 in Baltimore, Md. at Coppin State University.
