SC State Women's Soccer Team Defeats Howard in Overtime

Washington, DC (10-6-11)--The SC State women's soccer team defeated Howard, 1-0, in a Great West Conference (GWC) overtime match. The match-up was contested at Greene Stadium on the campus of Howard University.

Olivia Moore headed in the game-winner off a Veronica Aguilar corner kicker in the 99th minute to win the game. The Lady Bulldogs as a team recorded four shots on goal off 10 shots while Howard managed just one shot on goal off five attempts.

"This was a great win against a tough and difficult conference opponent,” said head coach Glad Bugariu. “I am very proud of our team and I believe we have started to turn the corner.” Bugariu continued, “We still have a ways to go to succeed in this extremely balanced conference."

With the victory, SC State who improves to 2-6-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the GWC, remains unbeaten in GWC play dating back to the 2010 season SC State.

SC State will return home next Thursday (Oct. 13) when they host Delaware State in the GWC match-up. First kick is set for 7 p.m. at the Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
