SC State Women’s Volleyball Team Travels to The Citadel

Lady Bulldogs are winners of last 5-of-7 contest

Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball team will travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on The Citadel, Tuesday (Oct. 4), in a non-conference matchup.  The Lady Bulldogs enters the contest winners of five-of-seven contest including three straight.

SC State enters the contest at 9-10 overall after defeating Florida A&M, 3-1, in their last contest.  Sophomore Desire Waller currently leads the team in kills and digs at 243 and 167, respectively. Redshirt junior Shabree Roberson leads the team in hitting percentage and blocks averaging .319 and 1.01 per set.  Senior setter Bria Brimmer has 626 set assists (9.34) and Melissa Robinson has 30 service aces to lead the team.  As a team the lady Bulldogs are averaging 11.10 kills per set and 1.87 blocks per set.

The Citadel enters the contest with a 6-9 overall record.  In their last outing, The Bulldogs fell to Davison College, 3-0.  Kaona Mercer currently lead the team in kills with 151 (2.90 per/set), hitting percentage at .277 and blocks with 30 total.

This will be the second matchup of the season between the teams.  In their earlier contest (Sept. 2), SC State came away with a 3-0 victory.

SC State will return home this Friday, Oct. 7 when they host Savannah State in a 7 p.m. MEAC conference matchup.  The Lady Bulldogs will then host Coastal Carolina in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.  All home contests are played in Dukes Gymnasium on the campus of SC State.
