SC State to Host Coastal Carolina in Women’s Volleyball

Roberson currently leads the team in hitting % and blocking
Orangeburg, S.C.—The SC State women's volleyball will look to remain perfect at home when they host Coastal Carolina, this Tuesday, Oct. 11. First serve is set for 6 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium.

SC State enters the match with a 10-11 overall record.  It took just 52 total minutes for the Lady Bulldogs to defeat Savannah State, 3-0, on Friday.  Sophomore Desire Waller currently leads the team in kills and digs at 269 and 178, respectively.  Redshirt junior Shabree Roberson leads the team in hitting percentage and blocks averaging .327 and 1.03 per set.  Senior setter Bria Brimmer has 676 set assists (9.26).  As a team the lady Bulldogs are averaging 11.08 kills per set and 1.86 blocks per set.

Coastal Carolina comes into the contest with an 8-12 overall record.  The Chanticleers' are on a two-game win streak after defeating Charleston Southern, 3-0, on Friday.  Erika Lightsey and Katie Martin currently lead the team in kills and hitting percentage at 175 and .254, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs will hit the road for a three-game road-swing beginning this Friday, Oct. 14 at North Carolina A&T.  SC State will then face North Carolina Central (Oct. 16) and USC-Upstate (Oct. 19) before returning home on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when they host Charleston Southern.
