NORFOLK, VA—The South Carolina men's and women's teams will be action again Monday (Jan. 24) in a pivotal MEAC showdown against the Spartans of Norfolk State. Tip-off for the women's game is 6 p.m. with the men following at 9 p.m. and televised live on ESPNU.
Coach
Doug Robertson, who enters his third season at the helm of the SC State women's basketball program, will take on a very scrappy and well-coached Lady Spartan team in Norfolk State (7-8 overall, 0-5 MEAC). The Lady Bulldogs enter the contest with a 6-9 overall record and 2-3 mark in the MEAC.
SC State, which will be looking to snap a three-game MEAC losing streak when they face the Lady Spartans, is led in scoring by senior guard/forward
Whitney Wiley with 10.2 ppg and a team-leading 31 steals. Newcomer and junior forward/center
Fannie Goodwin adds depths in the post with 8.2 ppg and 5.5 rpg, while JUCO transfer

The Lady Spartans are led by Whitney Long with 11.6 ppg and Rae Corbo with 10.6 points per contest. Marian Brooks leads the team in rebounding with 6.3 per outing.

Darnell Porter with 12.1 ppg and 3.9 rpg. JUCO transfer
Brandon Riley is second in scoring with 9.1 ppg, while junior forward
Omar Sanders adds 8.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg.
Norfolk State (4-13, 2-3 MEAC) has three players in double figures with Rob Hampton leading the way with 15.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg. Kyle O'Quinn is second with 13.4 ppg, and leads the team in rebounding with 9.6 rebounds per outing. Chris McEachin adds 10.8 points and 3.8 rebounds.
Following today's (Jan. 24) action, SC State will resume its schedule Saturday (Jan. 29) at home against Bethune-Cookman in an MEAC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. The teams will also be in action next Monday (Jan. 31) when they host Florida A&M in an MEAC clash, starting at 5:30 p.m. --30--
