SC State Women’s Soccer Falls to Charleston Southern, 2-1

Charleston, SC—The SC State women's soccer team, today, dropped a 2-1 non-conference decision to Charleston Southern at Buccaneer Field. With the loss, the Lady Bulldog falls to 4-4-1 while the Buccaneer's improved to 5-4-0.
            Charleston Southern got on the scoreboard early as Marky Boyce scored in the 2nd minute off an assist by Emma Krantz to put the Buccaneer's up 1-0. SC State held Charleston Southern scoreless for the remainder of the first half.
            The defense took controlled the game for most of the final period as neither team could score before the 64th minute. Charleston Southern's Emma Krantz scored unassisted at 64:30. The Lady Bulldogs received its only goal in the 85th minute as Tori Papp scored unassisted at 88:55.
"Our performance today was an improvement and encouraging but we still have to turn the corner,” said head coach Glad Bugariu. He continued “Charleston Southern is a good team, but we also had to deal with some other circumstances that were out of our team's hands which influenced the outcome of the game."
            SC State returns back to the action on Sunday, Sept. 26 when they travel to Asheville, NC to take on UNC-Asheville. The Lady Bulldogs return back to its home field on Wednesday, Sept 29 when they host Winthrop University.
