Charleston, SC (9-15-10) -- The SC State women's soccer team fell to the Citadel, 4-1, in a non-conference matchup held on the campus of the Citadel in Charleston, SC.
With the loss the Lady Bulldogs dropped to 4-3-1, while Citadel improved to 3-3-1 following the victory.
The Bulldogs got two goals from Nicole Levermann and one each from Mariana Garcia and Amy Loughran in the victory.
Freshman Briana Lopez had five shots and scored SC State's only goal on the night off a penalty kick. Goalkeeper Mariah Hebbe recorded three saves in the loss.
"It was a frustrating performance,” said head coach Glad Bugariu. “We have had a roller coaster season so far and we must find consistency to be able to have a successful season.” Bugariu continued, “Our performance yesterday was very poor, both players and coaches, and we deserved to lose. We will make a number of changes and hopefully this will convince players that performances like these are unacceptable."
The SC State women resume their schedule next Tuesday when they travel back to Charleston, SC to take on Charleston Southern University. The Lady Bulldogs will return to their home field on Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they host Winthrop University.
