Orangeburg, SC—The SC State women's soccer team captured the 2010 Bulldog/Sleep Inn Classic. The Classic, which was held at the Oliver C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium, was contested Friday and Sunday, Sept. 10 and 12.
SC State defeated Lipscomb (2-0) and Alabama State (1-6-0) en route the championship. In the win against Lipscomb Rebecca Dale and Briana Lopez each produce a goal for the Lady Bulldogs. Senior captain Brooke Ehinger assisted on both goals. In the victory over Alabama Alejandra Chirino scored the team's first goal off an assist from Brooke Ehinger. The Lady Bulldogs received an additional goal from Bahja Peeples off the assist by Cassie Rodriguez.
In other action of the tournament, Lipscomb went 1-1 over the weekend as they fell the Lady Bulldogs and defeated the Citadel. The Citadel also went 1-1 defeating Alabama State and falling to Lipscomb. Alabama State went winless over the weekend falling to Lipscomb and host SC State.
SC State will return to action next Wednesday, Sept. 15 when they travel to Charleston, SC to face the Bulldogs of the Citadel. The Lady Bulldogs will play its next home game on Wednesday, Sept. 29 when they host Winthrop.
