Norfolk, Va.—SC State senior Jarne Gleaton has been named the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) women's volleyball Player-of-the-Year as announced by the conference office on Thursday. Three Lady Bulldogs earned First Team All-Conference honors.

Gleaton, averaged 3.36 kills and 3.85 points in 103 sets played. Gleaton aided her team to a 6-2 record in conference play and 14-22 overall mark heading into the 2010 MEAC post-season tournament. She totaled 346 kills during the regular season along with 203 digs and 39 blocks. In addition Gleaton tallied five double-doubles and recorded 20-plus kills in two matches this season with a season-high of 27 against the Citadel on Nov. 12. Joining Gleaton on the MEAC First Team are teammates junior setter Bria Brimmer and red-shirt sophomore middle-blocker Shabree Roberson along with Sonja Banicevic (Delaware State), Tosin Elebute (Howard) and Maline Vaitai (UMES).

Brimmer finished the regular season with 1,179 set assists, 55 kills, 38 service aces and 251 digs while Roberson recorded 305 kills and 119 total blocks (29 solo-90 block assists).

SC State enters the 2010 MEAC Volleyball Championship as the number two seed in the Southern Division and will face Howard who is the number three seed in the Northern Division on Friday, Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. The championship, which runs thru Sunday, Nov. 21, will be held at the Physical Education Complex on the campus of Coppin State University.
