SC State's Jackson Earns MEAC Basketball Honor

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – South Carolina State reserve center Josh Jackson has been named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his play in two Bulldog victories last week.
Jackson a Haines, Fla. senior and a College of Charleston transfer, averaged 10.5 rebounds, including a season-high 13 boards in the team's 76-66 win at Norfolk on Saturday. He also grabbed eight boards in the Bulldogs' 73-59 win over Howard Saturday. 
Offensively he recorded 24 points and dished out six assists for Coach Tim Carter's team, which has won seven of eight games to climb to 13-12 and 8-5 in the league and in a tie for second place.
The honor is the third in as many weeks for SC State as starting center Jason Johnson was the league's to defensive player the previous two weeks.
Also honored were Coppin State's Tywain McKee, who was named Offensive Player of the Week for a second consecutive time, and Michael Harper, his Eagle teammate, who garnered Rookie of the Week accolades.
