Charleston, SC—The SC State women's volleyball team displayed a lot of hustle but came up short, as they fell to The Citadel, 1-3, (17-25, 20-25, 25-20, 13-25) in a non-conference matchup in McAlister Field House. With the lost the Lady Bulldogs fell to 13-18 while the Citadel Bulldogs improve to 8-23.
Junior Jarne Gleaton once again led SC State as she recorded 17 kills and a career high seven total blocks (five solo). Sophomore Bria Brimmer did an equally effective job running the offense as she put up set 30 set assist. Sophomore Lauren Harris led the team defensively with 11 digs in the loss.
The Citadel was led by Tatum Jestila who recorded a double-double, 17 kills-21 digs. Blaine McAllister put down 11 kills and Kathryn Johnston picked up 12 digs in the victory for the Bulldogs.
SC State will close out is 2009 regular season Friday, Nov. 13, when they host intra-state rival University of South Carolina. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium on the campus of SC State. The Lady Bulldogs will celebrate senior day as well as hold a can food drive during the contest.
