Greensboro, NC—The SC State women's volleyball team battled from a set down to defeat North Carolina A&T, 3-1, (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-15) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matchup in Corbett Sports Center. With the win the Lady Bulldogs improved to 10-15 overall and 2-2 in the MEAC while the Lady Aggies fall to 1-26 overall and 0-4 in the MEAC.
SC State had three players to record double-digit kills and double-digit digs in the contest. Jarne Gleaton, Paige Webb, and Jade Sanford recorded 13, 11 and 10 kills respectively. Sophomore Lauren Harris led the team defensively with 18 digs while Webb picked up 17 and setter Bria Brimmer had 11 digs in the victory. Brimmer also put a 39 set assists.
Janae Mitchell led the offensive attack for the Lady Aggies with 20 kills. Mitchell also picked up 11 digs in the contest. Tiffany Mellette had an 18 digs to lead the team defensively while Amber Inman put up a game-high 41 set assists in the loss.
SC State will host Norfolk State in a MEAC conference matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 6 p.m. in Dukes Gymnasium on the campus of SC State. The Lady Bulldogs will then travel to Winston-Salem, NC next Sunday (Nov. 1) to take on the Lady Rams of Winston-Salem State.
