SC State Women's Soccer Plays Wofford to a 1-1 Tie

Spartanburg, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team played Wofford to a 1-1 tie in its season-opener held in Spartanburg, SC.
           SC State (0-0-1) got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Kelsey Mims in the 9th minute and managed to hold Wofford (0-3-2) scoreless in the first half enjoying a 1-0 lead going into the locker room.
            Anne Phillips scored Wofford's goal in the 77th minute to tie the game at 1, and eventually forcing the game into overtime. Neither team would score in the first extra minute, forcing a second overtime. At the end of the second overtime the score remained 1-1 hence ending in a tie.
            The Lady Bulldogs goalie Alechia Brothers allowed only one goal with 18 saves off 19 shots-on-goal.
           SC State will host Presbyterian College in its 2008 season home-opener next Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Oliver C. Dawson Bulldog Stadium.
