BALTIMORE, MD – South Carolina State will be in the finals of eleven (11) total events Saturday when the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships conclude at Hughes Stadium on the Morgan State campus.
SC State will have representatives in six events in the women's competition and participants in five events on the men's side.
Representing the Lady Bulldogs will be Tempest Vance in the 400-meter hurdles, Renee McWilliams in the 100-meter hurdles, Ashley Maddox and Shaneka Lee in the high jump, Jasmine Smith and Brandi Jefferson in the triple jump, and the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Vance finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 100.04, qualifying her for the NCAA Regionals.
Carrying the banner for the SC men will be Garrett Blakely in the 400 meters, Jahwaun Blair, Avery Webster and Brian Coleman in the shot put, Marvin Williams in the triple jump; Blair, Webster and Mark Elmore in the javelin and the 4x4-meter relay team.
On Friday, SC State scored points in the women's javelin, with Kristi Foster finishing third; the women's heptathlon, where Lee was seventh; and in the men's discus, where Blair and Coleman were fourth and eighth, respectively.
