Orangeburg, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer team defeated Alabama State, 8-0, in a non-conference game at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, SC.
The game, which ended in the 70th minute, was dominated from the beginning by South Carolina State. Kathrina Ellis scored the first goal of the game in the 10th minute. Janine Francois scored the first of two of her goals less than one minute later to put SC State ahead, 2-0. In the 15th minute of the game, Star Tazwell scored the first her two goals. Francois, Tazwell, Erica Johnson and Talitha Wood rounded out the seven goals of the first half for the Lady Bulldogs.
Kelsey Mims scored the Lady Bulldogs only goal of the second half which lasted only 25 minutes. Mims also had an assist in the game along with Ellis and Stacey Jackson.
With the win SC State improves to 1-1 on the season. Alabama State fell to 0-3 in the young 2007 season.
