Closeout Home Season on a Winning Note
Orangeburg, SC—The South Carolina State women's soccer closed out its 2007 home season on a winning note, defeating Lees McRae, 2-0, at Hillcrest Field in Orangeburg, SC.
Talitha Wood scored the first goal of the game in the 11th minute with a header off a corner kick by Magaly Cerda. The teams would play a defense game for the rest of half as the score remained 1-0 SC State going into the half.
The teams would exchange shots but no goals through the first 70 minutes of the second half. In the 80th minute SC State got it second goal from Kelsey Mims off an assists from Elizabeth Govrik.
With the win SC State improves to 3-13-0 on the season. Lees McRae fell to 5-15-0.
