Jebreh Harris goes into his third season as the assistant cross-country coach and fourth season as the assistant track and field coach at South Carolina State. He began his duties on February 1, 2010., where he coaches men and women Cross Country, both men and women hurdles, and 400m men.
Harris joins the SC State staff after serving the past season five seasons (2004-2009) as a volunteer-assistant coach at his alma mater University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UT). While at UT, Harris also served several years as a track coach with the Knoxville Track Club working with the youth program. He also has spent time as a sports specific/personal trainer (Performance Training Inc.) Where he has trained several world class athletes and designed workout for clients with particular needs.
He had an outstanding collegiate career while competing at the UT. He was a Two-Time All-American (DMR, 4x4) and was a member of the 2001 SEC and NCAA Championship Team (800m, 4x4). After Harris completed his collegiate career, he went on have a lucrative pro-career. After college he went on to sign with the Holyfield International Track Club (owned by professional boxer Evander Holyfield) and in 2005 Harris signed with Reebok. As a professional Harris was a 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials Finalist in the 800 meters. In 2007 he ranked as high as #2 in the USA in the 800 meters by Track & Field News and in 2006 he placed third at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in the 800 meters and was a member of the American Record Breaking 4x800 meter relay team (7:02.82-Brussels). Harris had a personal best time of 1:45.56 in 800m. In his years at UT and his pro career, Harris has been coached by George Watts of The University of Tennessee
Harris received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of Tennessee in 2002. Prior to Tennessee, Harris competed for Alabama State University from 1996-99, serving as Team Captain his sophomore year. He is a US Virgin Islands registered coach, USATF Level I, and USTFCCCA Endurance Specialist Certified.

2010 Indoor/Outdoor Season - Coached athletes to 4 Indoor School Records in Women’s 55hurdles, 3000m, Distance Medley Relay, and Men’s 3000m. Outdoor season 9 school records were set in Women’s 1500, 3000, 4x800, DMR, 4x4 and Men’s 3000m Steeplechase, 4x8, DMR, and 4x200. Two athletes in Harris event area received All-MEAC Honors: Monique Gracia (100h) and Marvin Williams (400h). Monique Gracia competed in the 100m hurdles at the NCAA East Regional’s held at North Carolina A&T
2010-11 Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor – Women placed 2nd at MEAC Cross Country Championship, highest place in school history. The previous year the team placed 7th. Brittney Stewart was the runner-up finisher, while Patrecia Daniley and Patavia Lowery received All – MEAC Honors. Men placed 8th place, two places higher than the year before. At the HBCU Challenge the women’s team placed 2nd, while Brittney Stewart was the individual champion. The women also competed in the East Regional’s, a first in school history as well.
Harris coached athletes to three Indoor School Records in Women’s DMR and Men’s DMR, 3000m. During the Outdoor season, the men’s 3000m steeplechase record was set by Charles Kurgatt. Brittney Stewart claimed the MEAC Outdoor individual championship in the 5000m. Stewart and Sherril McFarlane earned All- MEAC Honors in the Women’s 5000m. During the summer, freshman Barry Bethea competed in the 400 hurdles at US Junior Nationals. Freshmen Seymour Walter competed for US Virgin Islands in the 800m at Central American Championships (CAC) in Puerto Rico and World University Games held in Shenzhen, China
2011-12 Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor – Men Cross Country continued to improve placing two places higher than the previous year with a 6th place finish MEAC Cross Country Championship. The Women’s Cross Country team had numerous personal bests, but fell short of their Runner-Up position from the previous year.
Three Indoor school records fell in the events of the Men’s 60 meter hurdles, Mile, and Heptathlon. Donta Young earned Runner-Up Honors in the 60m hurdles, while Seymour Walter (Mile) and Lorenzo Johnson (Heptathlon and Pole Vault) earned All MEAC Honors as well. The 2012 Outdoor season, Seymour Walter claimed All- MEAC Honors in the 1500m and Donta Young competed in the NCAA East Regional meet in the 110 meter hurdles held at the University of North Florida.
Seymour Walter continued to race during the summer setting a new US Virgin Island record in the 800 meters. Walter also competed in NACAC Under - 23 meet in Guanajuato, Mexico while representing the US Virgin Islands.
