Ralph Patin, III enters his third season as assistant coach with the SC State women's basketball program.
 
Patin joined the SC State staff after serving three seasons as head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College, (SMC), in Spartanburg, SC. While at SMC he compiled an overall record of 77-45 and 42-14 in region play. During his tenure, his teams competed in three, Region X Championship games and won the 2008 Region title. He has produced three First Team All-Region players, an NJCAA All-American, the 2008 Region X Player of the Year, and he was selected as the 2009 Region X Coach of the Year.
 
Prior to being named head coach at SMC, Patin coached the varsity girl’s basketball team at Ridge View High School in Columbia, SC. Before that, he coached at C.A. Johnson Preparatory Academy and worked with several AAU organizations, both male and female. He also coached and played while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Patin credits his father (Ralph Jr.) as being influential in his decision to become a coach, and his mother (Doris) for his unwavering faith in God and family.
 
Patin earned an associate's degree from Campbell University (Buies Creek, NC), a bachelor's degree from Excelsior College (Albany, NY), and a master's degree from Cambridge College (Boston, MA). He is married to Nalinee Patin, and they have two children: a son, Jamal and a daughter, Jasmine.
