Shaun Golden enters his third season as assistant coach at South Carolina State under Coach Tim Carter. Golden’s responsibilities include recruiting, scouting, and floor coaching.
Prior to joining the SC Staff, Golden worked for Fox Sports South as a broadcast analyst (2008-09). Golden also served as the head coach of Newberry College (2004-07) where the Indians were ranked nationally in steals, free throw %, and 3-point % and block shots.
He also served as an assistant coach at Winthrop University where he helps guide them to four NCAA tournament appearances and four Big South Titles. Prior to that Golden served as a assistant at his alma mater University of Georgia (1995-98) where they reached the two NCAA Tournament appearances a NIT Final Four and the Sweet 16.
The Taylor, SC native played his college ball at University of Georgia (1989-93) where he was a member of UGA’s first SEC championship team in 1990. Earned SEC Defense Player of the Year in 1992 and was named the Team Captain & MVP in 1993.
A McDonalds All-American at Riverside High School, Golden earned his degree Economics from the University of Georgia in1993.
