Jermone Riley

Jermone Riley is in his second season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at South Carolina State University. Prior to joining the SC State staff, Riley spent one season at Northern Arizona University. While at Northern Arizona, Riley helped lead the Lumberjacks to its second straight regular season conference title. Riley played a significant role in player development, recruitment as well as handled the scouting responsibilities for the Lumberjacks. 
 
Before reaching the college ranks, Riley served as the Basketball Director and Coach of the Agassi Stars Elite Basketball Program in Las Vegas, NV. The program was funded by the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation. During the course of the program, Riley instilled the importance of balancing athletics and education with his players, requiring them to attend tutorial sessions and contacting universities in which they were interested in attending.
 
As a player, Riley spent two seasons at Northern Arizona University (NAU) before transferring to the University of Texas-San Antonio. While at NAU, he was named Big Sky Freshmen of the Year. At the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) Riley played under current SC State Head Coach Tim Carter. While at UTSA, Riley was ranked second on the team in assist and steals and helped lead USTA to the 1999 NCAA Tournament where they faced the No.1 seed UCONN.
 
Riley comes from a family rooted in basketball. His father Robert Riley and his uncle Andy Riley both played for UNLV. His brother, former Arizona State standout Ron Riley, was a 1996 Second Round Draft Pick of the Seattle Supersonics. His cousin Marcus Banks is a current player for the Phoenix Suns.
 
Riley enjoyed a successful prep career at Clark High school in Las Vegas, NV, where he helped lead his team to its first-ever Nevada State Championship Title in 21 years. During that year he earned All-State and Most Valuable Player Honors.
 
In addition to his BA degree, Riley also earned his master’s degree in educational counseling from University of Texas -San Antonio.
 
Riley is married to the former Daria Marie Peoples from Paso Robles, California. The couple has two beautiful children, Jonah (3) and Jaden (1).
