Jared Powers will enter his first season as a South Carolina State assistant coach. His assignment will be the offensive line. He brings s wealth of knowledge to the Bulldog coaching staff replacing longtime assistant Demetrius Davis.
Powers previously coached the offensive line and tight ends at the University of North Carolina, the 2010 Music City Bowl Champs as a graduate assistant coach in 2010. He played a key role in a coaching staff at UNC in 2010 that led the nation with 9 National Football League Draft picks, along with coaching 2011 1st Round Draft Pick James Carpenter who was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks.
Prior, to his stint at North Carolina, Powers spent time Coffeyville Community College (2008-09), Dodge City Community College (2005-07), and Everett University where he helped placed over 100 student athletes in 4 year programs across the country in five seasons.
As a player, Powers spent on season a Ferrum College in 1999-00, where he earned 1st Team All-Conference before transferring to William Jewell College in Liberty , Missouri where he played two season earning 2nd Team All-Conference both seasons, while earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications
A graduate of Venice High School in Venice, Florida, Powers is a member of several professional organizations such as American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Florida High School Association, and the North Carolina High School Athletics Association.
