A standout at defensive back for SC State during his four-year playing career…Lettered four times and was an All-MEAC performer three seasons (1981, 1982 & 1983) and was the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year in 1983…Also earned All-America honors two seasons – SBN in 1981 and SBN, AP I-AA and Black College Sports in 1983…In 1981, set a school record for longest punt return (98 yards/TD) and ranked among the nation’s leaders in PR Avg. (18.2), and longest kickoff return (101/TD)…Helped Bulldog team to the prestigious I-AA plays in both 1981 and 1982…Played in the Blue-Grey All-Star Classic and the Black College All-Star Classic in 1983…Was drafted by both the Cincinnati Bengals (5th round) of the NFL and the Memphis Showboats (1st round) of the USFL in 1984… Played two seasons with Memphis before moving to the NFL with Cincinnati where he played seven seasons and participated in the 1989 Super Bowl…Finished his NFL career at Tampa Bay (3 seasons)…Was named to the SC State Centennial (1907-2007) Football Team…Wife Beverly was a track standout at SC State…Daughter Breana attends SC State.
