Women’s Basketball Take On Delaware State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State women's basketball returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play Saturday (Jan.22) versus Delaware State Thursday (Jan.22) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Gymnasium.

South Carolina State (5-14, 2-2 MEAC) will look to defend its home court and maintain early conference momentum in league play. The Lady Bulldogs are 3-6 at home this season, led by senior guard Iemyiah Harris with 13.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, while Shaunice Reed, who averages 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, has provided scoring off the bench.

Delaware State (3-16, 0-4 MEAC) enters Orangeburg seeking their first league win of the season. DSU is led by Mahogany Cottingham with 10.9 ppg and 2.9 rebounds, while Amya Scott and Jermesha Frierson with a little over 8.5 per outing.

SERIES MATCHUP: This season's meeting marks the 30th between the two teams dating back to 2005. The last time the two teams met SC State dropped an 77-56 decision on Feb. 22nd and won an impressive 68-262 win over the Lady Hornets in Orangeburg, SC on Jan. 11, 2025.
