DURHAM, NC—Senior guard
Raquan Brown scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed five rebounds, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough, 68-79, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference decision to North Carolina Central on the road Thursday (March 8) in the regular season finale inside McDougald-McLendon Arena.
South Carolina State falls to 14-17 overall, 9-5 in the MEAC, while NCCU improves to 17-12 overall 9-5 in the league.
Michael Teal added 14 points, while teammates
Omar Croskey and
Mitchell Taylor finished with eights points each respectively. Croskey added a team-high nine rebounds in the loss.
In a reserve role
Caleb McCarty chipped in six points and six rebounds on the evening.
NCCU was led by Keishon Porter with a game-high 37 points, while Po'Boigh King added 18 points and Timmy Adedire 12 in the win.
The Bulldogs led the way in several categories including second chance points (18-7), bench points (21-21), and rebounds 36-32.
