ORANGEBURG, SC—Freshman forward
Taniya McGowan tossed in a season-high 21 points along with four (4) steals and four (4) rebounds, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State suffered an, 51-67, to visiting Maryland Eastern Shore Monday (Feb. 26) inside Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
Cassandra Colon added 12 points and six (6) rebounds in the loss.
South Carolina State falls to 2-24 overall, 1-10 in the MEAC, while UMES improves to 14-12 overall, 7-4 in the league.
UMES was led by Mahogany Lester with 17 points and eight (8) rebounds, while Mya Thomas added 12 in the win.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will close out the regular season on the road in a three-game MEAC swing beginning with Morgan State (Mar. 2), Coppin State (Mar. 4) and North Carolina Central (Mar. 7).
