ATLANTA-Despite a tough, 48-13 loss to FBS foe Georgia Tech of the ACC, South Carolina State showed flashes of improvement Saturday (Sept.9
th) at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
The Bulldogs (0-3) finished with 196-yards on the ground rushing against their FBS opponent. Freshman running back
Jawarn Howell led the way with 6 rushes for 64-yards with a long of 47-yards and average of 10.7 ypc.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Andre Washington added with 12 carries for 54-yards and a score.
SCSU was 7-15 on third down. A downgrade from the performance against Louisville.Â
Special teams had a solid day punting with freshman
Max'Ceon Cobb with six (6) punts for 215-yards for an average of 35.8 and a long of 44-yards.
Redshirt junior linebacker led the way with seven (7) tackles, while
Michael Brunson added six (6) and 1 TFL and
Jaylen Evans and
Jadin Jones finished with five (5) each.
Evans also added a forced fumble and pass breakup, while
Jeblonski Green, Jr. grabbed the teams only interception.
Next up the Bulldogs get an off week before hosting The Citadel at home on Sept. 23
rd at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium on Willie Jeffries Field. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
