CHARLESTON, SC- Despite a strong start by the Lady Bulldogs fell short to Charleston Southern 58-68 to the Buccaneers Saturday (Dec. 2), afternoon inside Buccaneer Fieldhouse. 

 SC State owned the first quarter but slowed things down in the second, which allowed the Buccaneers to spark an 18-6 run to gain momentum going into halftime to take an 40-33 lead.    

The 2nd half was a basket-for-basket battle as both teams traded baskets to keep the lead within single digits. The Bucs were able to hold off the Lady Bulldogs and expand the lead to 10 points, 58-68 to claim the victory. 

South Carolina State was led by Morgan Beacham with 14 points and five rebounds. Cassandra Colòn (10 points) and Janiah Hinton (13 Points) both finished with another double-digit performance.  

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 1-8 overall, meanwhile the Buccaneers improved to 2-6.  

UP NEXT: South Carolina State will remain on the road for their next two contests as they travel to Alabama to face Alabama A&M on December 10. The Lady Bulldogs will finish the weekend series versus UAB on December 12th in Birmingham, AL.
