NORFOLK, VA— The South Carolina State Bulldogs (4-6 overall, 2-2 MEAC) will close out the 2023 campaign on the road Saturday (Nov.18) versus Norfolk State (3-7 overall, 1-3 MEAC) inside Dick Price Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will be televised live on ESPN+
This will be the final game for head coach Buddy Pough who has led he Bulldogs program for 22-years and amassed over 150 wins along with 8 MEAC Titles and numerous Coach of the Year honors.
The Bulldogs are led on offense by graduate quarterback
Corey Fields, Jr and running back
Jawarn Howell who won't be in action this Saturday and will sit out after suffering an injury versus Howard.
Howell is one of the premier running backs in the league after earning several MEAC Rookie of the Week honors on the season with 97 carries for 785 yards and 7 TD's. He leads the MEAC in rushing.
Josh Shaw is second with 65 carries 319-yards and a touchdown along with
Tyler Smith 56 carries 281-yards and 2 TD's. Justin Brown-Smith is the leader in the receiving corps with 20 catches for 328-yards and 3 TDs followed by tight end
Keshawn Toney with 19 catches for 242-yards and 5 TD's.
Aaron Smith is the leader on defense with 59 tackles and 43 solo and 4.5 sacks, while graduate defensive back is second with 40 tackles on the season.
