SC STATE GAME NOTES vs. NCCU
DURHAM, NC—The South Carolina State Bulldogs (3-4 overall, 1-0 MEAC) will be back in the national spotlight when they take on host nationally-ranked #10 North Carolina Central Eagles (6-1 overall, 1-0 MEAC) Thursday (Oct. 26^th) at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPNU.

THE MATCHUP: Both teams are looking to stay atop the league race with a win. The Eagles are the 2022 HBCU National Champions, while the Bulldogs enter the contest as previous winners of the prestigious crown in 2021. Since 2011 the Bulldogs have led the series 5-4 over the Eagles. The last time the two teams met SC State edge out a much-needed win over NCCU at home 26- 24 on Oct. 22nd, 2022, inside O.C. Dawson Stadium.

BULLDOG NOTE: Redshirt junior Eric Brown, Jr. was named MEAC Offensive Line of the Week, while true freshman Jawarn Howell as named MEAC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week.

LAST TIMEOUT: The Bulldogs knocked off Delaware State in their MEAC-Opener to improve to 1-0 in the league, while NCCU was idle after coming off 16-10 tough win over Morgan State on the road.

• Quarterback Corey Fields, Jr. connected on 14-of[1]21 for 165-yards to lead the Bulldogs.
• True freshman Jawarn Howell finished with (13) carries for 119-yards, and three (3) touchdowns, while redshirt freshman Tyler J. Smith led the charge on the ground with 12 rushes for 122-yards and 1 TD. Running back Josh Shaw also got in the mix with 11 carries for 94-yards and a score.
• Justin Smith -Brown grabbed eight (8) catches for 120-yards.
• The defense was spearheaded by Patrick Godbolt with 4 tackles, 3.0 TFL for 7-yards. Naejuan Barber added 4 tackles and 1 TFL while Aaron Smith finished with 3 tackles and 1 TFL.

Next Up South Carolina State will host visiting Howard Saturday (Nov. 4^th) for "HOMECOMING 2023" at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium on Willie F. Jeffries Field. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPNU.
