Basketball Teams Continue MEAC Play This Weekend at Home

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams continue Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend when they host visiting top-ranked Norfolk State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center Saturday (Jan. 29th).

Tip-off for the women's contest begins at 2 p.m., followed by the men's in a 4 p.m. start. You can listen to the game live on https://espnorangeburg.com/

SERIES: The Spartans leads the series 16-5, as well as winning the last eight (8) meetings between the two schools. The last time the Bulldogs knocked off the Spartans was on  March 11th, 2016 on the road 67-65 in Norfolk, VA. Meanwhile on the women side, the Lady Bulldogs lead the series 10-9, with Norfolk State winning the last six (6) meetings.

LAST TIMEOUT: Both teams posted a 2-0 mark on the road with wins over Maryland Eastern Shore on the women's side (54-50) and on the men's side (69-60). SC State wrapped up a two game road swing on Monday at Delaware State with the Bulldogs winning (64-62), followed by an (53-48) victory for the Lady Bulldogs.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: SC State (10-10,2-2 MEAC) is averaging 74.2 points per game as a team; 42.9 rebounds; 7.4 steals and 3.4 blocks.

SCOUTING THE  LADY BULLDOGS: SC State (3-14, 3-0 MEAC) is averaging 48.9 points per game as a team; 36.7 rebounds; 6.2 steals and 4.6 blocks.

South Carolina State will return back to the court on Monday (Jan. 31st) in a league showdown with visiting Howard, with the women beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men in a 7:30 p.m. start..
