ROCK HILL, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will be one of eight basketball teams across the southeast participating in the No Room For Racism Classic Friday (Dec.10
th) at the Rock Hill Sports & Events Center.
South Carolina State the only Historically Black College & University (HBCU) to play in the first annual classic will take on High Point University in a 7 p.m. tip-off. Game will be televised live on ESPN+.
No Room For Racism Classic Schedule:
December 10: High Point vs. South Carolina State, 7 p.m.
December 11: Winthrop vs. Carver College, 7 p.m.
December 12: Clinton College vs. Edward Waters
December 12: South Carolina vs. Florida State
LAST TIME OUT
- SC State knocked off South Florida in a thrilling 65-64 road win in Tampa, Fla.
- Freshman guard TJ Madlock finished with 15 points and five rebounds including a 3-point buzzer beater to lift the Bulldogs to victory.
- For his efforts Madlock earned MEAC Rookie of the Week.
- Meanwhile, High Point (5-4) defeated Guilford 64-59 at home. John Micheal-Wirght finished with a team-high 17 points in the win.
A LOOK AT BOTH TEAMS
- The Bulldogs is led in scoring by Cameron Jones with 11.7 points per game, while TJ Madlock is second with 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds.
- Graduate forward Edward Oliver-Hampton is the leader on the boards with seven (7) rebounds and 7.2 ppg.
- HU is led by Michael John-Wright tossing in 20.7 points and 5.2 rebounds, while teammate Lydell Elmore adds 11 points and 6.2 boards
SERIES HISTORY (Series tied 1-1)
- Friday marks the third meeting between the two schools.
- Last time the two teams met the Bulldogs pulled out an 76-63 win on Dec. 9th,2009 in Orangeburg, SC.
UP Next for SC State
South Carolina State will hit the road to take on ACC Power and nationally ranked Duke Blue Devils in a non-conference matchup Tuesday (Dec. 14
th) in Cameron Indoor. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
