ORANGEBURG, SC— Red-shirt freshman Kendrell Flower controlled the run game for the Bulldogs powering for 160-yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, but it wasn't enough as South Carolina State dropped a tough, 27-17, decision to rival N.C. A&T State Saturday (Nov. 13
th) at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium|Willie Jeffries Field.
Twenty senior student-athletes were honored in a pregame ceremony before the contest.
Sophomore
Shaquan Davis finished with five catches for 96-yards, while redshirt sophomore
Quincy Hill the Bulldogs reserve quarterback stepped in for an injured
Corey Fields, Jr. to provide a solid day throwing 10-of-18 for 136-yards.
The defense provided a balance attack with
BJ Davis,
Kendall Moultrie (2 TFL) and Jablonski Green (2 TFL) all finishing with five tackles on the day.
South Carolina State will play its final contest of the regular season on the road at Norfolk State on Saturday (Nov. 20) in Norfolk, VA at Dick Price Stadium. Kickoff is 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs (5-5 overall, 4-0) took sole position of first place in the league and captured their 18
th Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship, after Norfolk State dropped their second straight conference defeat to Delaware State 28-26 in Dover, DE.
South Carolina State will earn an automatic berth to the prestigious Celebration Bowl in Atlanta, GA on December 18
th at the Mercedes Benz Stadium.
