WASHINGTON, DC—Graduate forward
Tashombe Riley scored in a team-high 24 points and six rebounds to lead South Carolina State to an, 101-95, overtime win over Howard Monday (Jan. 13
th) at Burr Gymnasium.
Riley finished 11-of-17 from the field, while All-MEAC forward
Damani Applewhite recorded the games only double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senior's Zach Sellers and
Jahmari Etienne tossed in 14 each, along with
Armani Hills 11 points and Rashawn Neal 10 in the win.
The Bulldogs dominated in several categories including rebounds (47-30), points in the paint (30-28), 2
nd chance points (25-14) and bench points (54-16) respectively.
South Carolina State improves to 7-8 overall, 2-1 in the MEAC, while Howard falls to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the league.
South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 18
th) when they host Florida A&M in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
