ORANGEBURG, SC --South Carolina State record-setting sprinter Tyrell Richard advanced to the finals of the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championships held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
Richard won his heat (4) in the 400 meters with the fastest overall time of 45.65, his second best time of the season.
The Georgetown senior has the fourth-best time in the nation this year, having been clocked at 45.39 earlier in the year at the USC Indoor Open Feb. 16. The mark is a school record for Richard who is ranked number one in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and set a meet record (46.62) at the recent MEAC Indoor Championship Feb. 23 at Landover, MD.
He will compete on Saturday (March 9
th) in the finals at (5 p.m. (CST) and 6 p.m. EST)
