NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The South Carolina State track teams combined for three firsts and seven runner-up showings at the Mar. 22-23 Buccaneer Invitational hosted by Charleston Southern. Overall, the SC State men and women had a total of 13 podium finishes, which also included three third places.
Earning firsts for Coach
Tim Langford's teams were
Demek Kemp in the 100 meters (10.25),
Tyrell Richard in the 200 meters (20.65) and
Daniel Seawright in the long jump (7.28m, 23-10.75 ft.).
Runner-up showings came from Breana Tyler in the women's long jump (5.49m, 18-0.25 ft.),
Tigere Campbell in the shot put (9.44m, 30-11.57 ft.),
Keturah Hunter in the hammer throw (48.62m, 159-6 ft.), Seawright in the 100 meters with a personal record (10.56), Treshawn Hardy in the 400 meters (49.58), the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Wadell Rembert-Jett, Malik Watson,
Kameron Hammond and Seawright (41.04), and the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Tyler Jeffers,
Dyrell Kinloch,
Joshua Martin and Richard (3:19.44).
Also earning spots on the podium with third-place finishes were
Jeff McReynolds in the javelin (48.81m, 160-2 ft.), LaQueena Dubose in the women's javelin (31.82m, 104-5 ft.), and Jalen Sanford in the triple jump (12.94m, 42-5.50 ft.).
