Box Score GREENSBORO,NC –Senior guard Rhein Beamon tossed in a team-high 14 points, while teammate Taylor Brown added 12 and eight rebounds, as South Carolina State fell short, 59-52, to top-ranked N.C. A&T State Saturday (Feb.23^rd) at the Corbett Sports Complex.

South Carolina State falls to 13-14 overall, 6-7 in the MEAC, while N.C. A&T improves 16-10 overall, 13-0 in the league.

"Proud of the ladies and their effort tonight. They play hard with a lot of energy and unfortunately, we could not contain C'Coriea Foy, she shot the ball extremely well," said SC State head coach Audra Smith. "Although, we did have solid performances from Beamon and Brown who scored 14 and 12 respectively. We were right there. We missed some key defensive assignments and gave up offensive rebounds at crucial times."

North Carolina A&T led 31-27 during intermission.

The Lady Aggies opened up the second-half with back-to-back baskets by C'Coriea Foy to increase the lead to eight, 35-27, with 8:16 remaining in the third quarter. A 3-pointer by senior guard Kemoni Jenkins with 0:03 seconds remaining pull the Lady Bulldogs within two, 45-43, heading into the fourth quarter.

South Carolina State closed the gap down the stretch off a pair of free-throws by Brown, followed by a driving layup by Beamon to pull within one, 51-50, with 3:45 left in regulation.

Foy's five straight points in the closing minutes push the lead to nine, 59-50, with 0:53 seconds remaining. N.C. A&T held to remain unbeaten in conference play with a 52-59 victory over South Carolina State.

"The fourth quarter was tough for us, we only managed to score nine points. We have some areas on the offensive and defensive end that we have to clean up," said Smith. "For now, we have to put this game behind us and get ready to focus on a very quick and scrappy North Carolina Central team on Monday."

The Lady Aggies were led by C'Coriea Foy with a game-high 25 points, while Alexus Lessears added nine points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Next up South Carolina State takes on NC Central in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown in Durham, NC. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
