GREENSBORO, NC---The South Carolina State men's basketball team look to avenge an earlier season loss Saturday (Feb. 23
rd) when they take on Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) rival N.C. A&T State at Corbett Arena. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
The last time the two teams met earlier this season South Carolina State dropped a tough overtime, 77-80 (Jan. 5
th, 2019) loss to the Aggies in the MEAC opener for both teams. Junior guard
Lavar Harewood led the way with a team-high 22 points, while forward
Damani Applewhite added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Last timeout, the Bulldogs produced a much need win over one of the hottest teams in the league in an, 57-54, win over Florida A&M Monday (Feb. 18
th) at S-H-M. Senior point guard Janai Ranyor-Powell led the way with 16 points in the win.
Applewhite is having an All-MEAC year scoring at 17.6 points \3rd
in the MEAC, while grabbing 7.4 rebounds. Raynor-Powell is second on the team in scoring with 10.4 points and 2.4 rebounds.
Meanwhile the Aggies (14-12 overall, 9-3 MEAC), look to bounce back after a 76-58 loss to top-ranked Norfolk State in their last outing. Amari Hamilton and Kameron Langley each tossed in 14 each in the loss.
Qua Copeland leads the way with 9.1 ppg, while Milik Gantz, Ibrahim Sylla and Terry Harris each averages a little over 8.5 points. Sylla is the leader on the boards with 5.6.
Next up South Carolina State takes on NC Central on Monday (Feb. 24
th) in Durham, NC on ESPNU in in league showdown. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
