JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Senior forward Damani Applewhite tossed in a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds, while teammate Zacchaeus Sellers chipped in 12 points along with eight rebounds to lead South Carolina State to an, 58-52, road win over Jacksonville Monday at Swisher Gymnasium.

Junior Tariq Simmons finished with 11 and seven rebounds and Jahmari Eitenne added 10 in the win. The Bulldogs improve to 5-7 overall, while Jacksonville falls to 7-8 on the season.

SC State opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play Saturday (Jan. 4) at Coppin State in the second contest of a two-game league road trip at Baltimore. Tipoff for women's contest is set for 2 p.m. and will be followed by an MEAC encounter between the Eagles and the SC State men at 4 p.m.
