ORANGEBURG, SC—Redshirt freshman quarterback
Corey Fields had a career-setting day throwing 18-of-29-1 for 333-yards and seven (7) touchdowns to lead South Carolina State to an, 62-21, victory over Howard Saturday (Nov. 9
th) at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
Fields set a new school record with touchdown passes thrown in a game with seven (7). The previous record was held by
Tyrece Nick with five (5) versus Delaware State in 2019.
Senior wide receiver
De'Montrez Burroughs also set a school record with touchdown receptions with five (5) in game. The previous record was held by Chris Burgess in 2005 (Bethune-Cookman) with three (3).Burroughs finished with seven (7) catches for 140-yards, while redshirt freshman Shaquan Davis grabbed five (5) catches for 113-yards and two touchdowns.
Graduate student punter Cliff Benjamin, ,Jr. had a solid day on special teams with an average of 44.0 yards per punt (3-132 yards), with the longest 51-yards and three punts inside the 20-yard line.

Chad Gilchrist spearheaded the defense with six (6) tackles and 2 TFL, while sophomore defensive back
Duane Nichols and senior linebacker
Cornelius Walker added five (5) each in the win.
