ORANGEBURG, SC—Senior quarterback Ryan Stanley threw 30-of-49 for a game-high 427-yards including three touchdowns to lead Florida A&M to an 42-38 victory over South Carolina State Saturday (Oct. 12
th) at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field.
Both teams put up impressive numbers on the day with the Bulldog defense allowing 505-total yards by FAMU, while finishing with 348-yards on offense.
Junior quarterback
Tyrece Nick threw 6-of-17-1 for 107-yards, while redshirt freshman
Corey Fields added 9-of-13-1 for 155-yards and two (2) touchdowns. Nick led the way on a rushing attack with 15 carries for 62-yards.
Sophomore wide receiver
Will Vereen had five catches for 78-yards, along with
De'Montrez Burroughs four receptions for 66-yardsa and a touchdown and Shaquan Davis three catches for 67-yards and a score.
The Bulldog defense was spearheaded by senior linebacker
Cornelius Walker with nine tackles (7 solo) and
Johnell Brown and
Duane Nichols with six each in the loss.
South Carolina State returns to action Saturday (Oct. 19
th) when they host Morgan State during "Homecoming 2019" Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
