COLUMBIA, SC – The South Carolina State indoor track teams added another first place and three runner-up finishes Saturday, during the second day of the Gamecock Inaugural hosted by the University of South Carolina at its new indoor track facility.
On Saturday, Bulldog senior Tyrell Richard, who earned national acclaim last year as a Bulldog runner, won the 200 meters Invite in a time of 21.12 and was second in the 60 meters Invite with a clocking of 6.70; sophomore Daniel Seawright was second in the long jump Invite with a leap of 7.32m (24-00.25 ft.); and junior Breana Tyler was second in the women's long jump Invite with a jump of 5.63m (18-05.75 ft.).
Bulldog senior Demek Kemp, who like Richard earned national exposure last recognition, won the 60 meters Invite -- running unattached – in time of 6.63. The Monroe, Ga. native has exhausted his indoor track eligibility but will be a part of the Bulldog outdoor roster this spring.
Coupled with seven top 10 showings on Friday, SC State teams finished the two-day competition with 11 top 10 finishes, including three firsts and four seconds.
