Bulldogs Battle UCF Knights On ESPN3

ORLANDO (www.scsuathletics.com)-- The South Carolina State Bulldogs return to action on the road when they take on host Central Florida in a non-conference matchup Saturday (Sept. 8th ) at Spectrum Stadium.

SOUTH CAROLINA STATE REPORT (0-1)
- Bulldogs drop season-opener to Georgia Southern 37-6 on last week in Statesboro.
-Senior DB Chris Adams spearheaded the defense with a career-high eight (8) tackles in the loss; while redshirt sophomore quarterback Tyrece Nick led the rushing attack with 21 carries for 66-yards and a touchdown.
-Special teams put on a solid performance with freshman return specialist Tyshawn Baine returning two (2) kick-off returns for 61-yards (30.5 ypr). Redshirt senior punter Jermone Pettiway posted three punts for 140-yards with an average of 46.7 yards per punt and the longest 71-yards.

CENTRAL FLORIDA (1-0)
 - The Knights won its season-opener 56-17 over UCONN.
- UCF is currently ranked No. 19 in today's Associated Press Top 25 Poll
-Central Florida's offense racked up an amazing 652-yards total offense (296 rushing, 356 passing).
-UCF is 30-9 all-time in home openers, having won nine out of its last 10 with the program's last loss coming in 2015. That was also the last time the Knights lost to an FCS foe (Furman).
 
UP NEXT
South Carolina State hosts North Carolina Central on Saturday, Sept. 15th at Oliver. C. Dawson Stadium. Kick-off is 6 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU with a tape-delay.
