SC State to Face Florida in NCAA Men’s Tennis Tourney

GAINESVILLE, Fla.--South Carolina State, fresh off its ninth Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's tennis championship in 11 years, will head to Gainesville, Fla. on Saturday, May 12 to take on Florida, the No. 13 overall seed and defending national champion, in the first round of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships.
 
The Bulldogs won the MEAC title, and NCAA automatic bid, this past Saturday with a 4-2 win over Morgan State in the championship match.
 
Miami (Fla.) and North Florida will join South Carolina State and the host Gators in Gainesville. The winners of the two matches will square off in the second round on Sunday, May 13.
 
From there, the team that wins will advance to the finals site in Winston-Salem, N.C.

  • The Gator men received the No. 13 seed in the 64-team draw.
  • Florida (16-9) faces South Carolina State (11-7) for the third time in program history in its NCAA First Round contest on Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. ET.
 
Ticket Information
  • Tickets may be purchased in advance or on each day of the tournament.
  • An ALL-SESSION Pass $10.00 for senior citizens, college students and children under 17.
  • SINGLE DAY tickets for Friday and Saturday are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for senior citizens, college students and children under 17.
  • SINGLE DAY tickets for Sunday are $3.00 for everyone.
  • A Will Call window for the teams will also be located at the Ring Tennis Complex entrance.

Media Credentials
  • Press and photo credentials will be assigned to working press according to established NCAA guidelines.
  • For media credentials, interested individuals should email the Florida Communications Department, specifically Kelly Shipp (covering men's event only OR covering both men's & women's events) KellySh@gators.ufl.edu or Kathy Cafazzo (covering women's event only) KathyC@gators.ufl.edu.
  • Please include the NAME and OUTLET of the person who will be issued the credential.
  • All credentials can be collected at the Will Call window, which will be located at the entrance to the Ring Tennis Complex and opens 60 minutes prior to the start of the first match each day of the NCAA Championships.
  • All Photographers MUST check in at the Media Press Box prior to shooting any on-court action.
