ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams return action on Saturday (Feb.10
th) when they host the visiting Aggies of N.C. A&T State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
In their last outing the Lady Bulldogs pulled off a dramatic 67-65 overtime win over Coppin State to improve to 9-13 overall, 4-6 in the league. Bryeash Blair led the way with a team-high 17 points.
The Lady Aggies ranked second in the MEAC at 13-8 overall, 8-1 look to extend their winning streak to two in a row after knocking off Delaware State 75-55 in their last game. Ccoriea Foy and Cinia McCray finished with 14 each.
Blair is the leader at 14.5 ppg, while Kemoni Jenkins and Kyesha Lewis adds 10.3 respectively. Jasmine Williams leads the Lady Bulldogs with 6.4 rebounds and 5.4 points.
Foy leads the women's in scoring for N.C. A&T State with 12.7 ppg, while Kala Green adds 11.6. Alexus Lessears is the leader on the boards with 9.2 and 8.0 points per game.
On the men's side the Bulldogs (8-17 overall, 4-6 MEAC) look to bounce back after a tough loss to Coppin State on last week. Senior guard Patrell Rogers finished with 13 points.
Donte Wright and
Damani Applewhite lead the Bulldogs with 12.5 points per game. Applewhite is the leader in the frontcourt with 7.0 rebounds. Rogers adds 10.0 ppg.
The top-ranked Aggies (15-9 overall, 8-1) tied for first place with Savannah State seek their fourth-straight league win. N.C. A&T State defeated Delaware State 54-51, Femi Olubjobi and Kameron Langley led the way with 11 each.
Olubjobi leads the Aggies in scoring with 17.5 ppg and 7.8 rebounds.
South Carolina State returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 17) on the road when they face Hampton University in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader. Tip-off for the women's contest is 4 p.m., followed by the men's in a 6 p.m. start.
