ORANGEBURG, SC---The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams look to avenge an early season loss when they host Coppin State Monday (Feb.5
th) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off for the women's contest is 5:30 p.m., with the men following in a 7:30 p.m. start.
The last time the two teams met on the women's side the Lady Bulldogs (8-13 overall, 3-6 MEAC) suffered a 39-56 setback to the Lady Eagles (6-16 overall, 5-5 MEAC) on the road. Junior guard forward Keysha Lewis led the way with a team-high 10 points.
On the men's side the Bulldogs (8-16 overall, 4-5 MEAC) look to avenge a 65-73 defeat to the Eagles (4-21 overall, 4-6 MEAC). Senior guard James Richardson finished with 20 points in the loss.
In their last outing the Lady Bulldogs posed their first road league of the season with a 71-60 victory over Savannah State. Breysha Blair led the charge with a game-high 28 points in the win. Meanwhile, the Lady Eagles look to snap a two-game losing skid after dropping a tough, 38-64, loss to top-ranked Bethune-Cookman.
The Bulldogs look to bounce back after a tough 111-99 loss to top-ranked Savannah State on Saturday. Senior guard Patrell Rogers tossed in a team-high 26 points in the loss. Coppin State look to stop a two-game losing skid as well after a 60-80 defeat to Bethune-Cookman.
