ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will close out the regular season at home when they take on Savannah State Thursday (March.1) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
The Lady Bulldogs (10-17 overall, 5-10 MEAC) seek a season sweep over the Lady Tigers (4-23 overall, 1-14 MEAC) after knocking off SSU early this season 71-60 at Savannah. Graduate guard
Bryeasha Blair finished with a game-high 27 points in the win.
Blair leads the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 14.9 ppg and 4.3 rebounds. Junior's Kemoni Jenkins and Keysha Lewis each adds a little over 9.1 per contest. Junior forward Jasmine Williams is the leader in the frontcourt at 6.5 rebounds and 5.4 ppg.
On the men's side, the Bulldogs (10-19 overall, 6-8 MEAC) look to seek an early season 99-111 defeat to the Tigers (14-16 overall, 11-4 MEAC) on Feb. 3, 2018 in Savannah, Ga. Senior guard Patrell Rogers finished with a team-high 26 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore forward
Damani Applewhite added 24 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Bulldogs have three players in double-figures with Donte Wright leading the way with 13.2 ppg. Applewhite is second with 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds and Rogers chips in 10.7 per outing.
