SC State Basketball Teams Hit The Road To Take On FAMU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams are back in action on the road against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Florida A&M Monday (Feb. 26th) at the Al Lawson Convention Center. Tip-off for the women is 6 p.m., following by the men in an 8 p.m. start.

The Lady Bulldogs (9-17 overall, 4-10 MEAC/10th) look to bounce back after a tough, 63-81, loss to NC Central on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs (10-18 overall, 6-7 MEAC/8th) posted an impressive 102-79 victory over the Eagles on Senior Day.

Graduate guard Donte Wright had a lights out day shooting the basketball tossing in a game-high 29 points. Wright finished 7-of-13 from behind the three-point line and 11-of-18 from the field along with breaking the Single Season Record for Three-Pointers (91), previously held by Ed Stephens (90).

Breyeasha Blair led the Lady Bulldogs and junior center Jasmine Williams both had 14 points to lead SC State in the loss. Kemoni Jenkins added 13 and Esther Udonsi 12 in the setback.

Meanwhile Florida &M (6-21 overall, 4-10 MEAC/11th) on the women's side, look to get things back on the winning track after a 52-73 decision to N.C. A&T in their last outing. The Rattlers (7-23 overall, 6-8 MEAC/10th) posted back-to-back victories over Delaware State (66-63) and N.C. A&T State (83-77).

Desmond Williams is the leader for the Rattlers with 18.0 ppg and 5.7 rebounds, while Marcus Barham adds 16.5 and 3.9 rebounds per contest. Isaiah Martin is the leader on the boards with 6.5 and 8.1 ppg. The Lady Rattlers are led by Florence Quattara with 14.4 points and 4.3 rebounds.

South Carolina State close out the regular season at home Thursday (March. 1) when they host Savannah State at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. for the women and for the men in a 7:30 p.m. start.
