CINCINNATI, OHIO—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will wrap up its holiday play Saturday (Dec. 22) when they take the Bearcats of Cincinnati in an non-conference matchup at Fifth Third Arena. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY: Saturday marks only the second meeting in Cincinnati and South Carolina State series history. In the lone previous matchup, the Bearcats posted a 108-84 victory over the Bulldogs on Dec. 31, 1988 at the Cincinnati Gardens.
LAST TIMEOUT: South Carolina State (2-12) dropped a 79-55 decision at Miami (Ohio) on Thursday.
Damani Applewhite led the Bulldogs with 13 points and seven rebounds .Cincinnati (10-2) is coming off a 93-64 home win over UCLA on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Arena. Jarron Cumberland scored a game-high 25 points with four three-pointers while Keith Williams tallied a career-high 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting with a trio of threes. Nysier Brooks scored 14 points and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Justin Jenifer had 11 points and five assists.
UP NEXT: South Carolina State will host Presbyterian in a non-conference matchup Wednesday (Jan. 2
nd) at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
