Spartanburg, S.C. – The South Carolina State men's basketball team resumes it three-game road swing Saturday when they travel upstate to take on USC Upstate in a non-conference matchup at the Eddie and Ann Payne Arena in the G.B. Hodge Center. Tipoff is 4 p.m.

SERIES: South Carolina State is facing USC Upstate for the first time in program history.

LAST OUTING: South Carolina State dropped a 79-55 decision at Liberty on Tuesday. Junior forward and All-MEAC Preseason Selection Damani Applewhite leads the Bulldogs with 18.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Senior guard Janai Raynor-Powell is the floor general at 9.8 points per outing and 2.8 assist. Junior forward Ozante Fields and sophomore guard Rayshawn Neal chips in 7.5 points each per contest.South Carolina State is under the direction of sixth-year head coach Murray Garvin.

Meanwhile, USC Upstate (2-8) started its home stand last Saturday falling 74-60 to 25^th-ranked Furman. Malik Moore leads the team this season with 16.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth in the Big South in rebounds and ninth in scoring while sitting fifth in field goal percentage at 48.8 percent. Deion Holmes contributes 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while Jure Span adds a team-leading 4.2 assists per contest.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 20^th against Miami of Ohio in Oxford, Ohio in a 7 p.m. start. followed by a showdown with University of Cincinnati in a 2 p.m. contest on  Saturday, Dec. 22^nd.
